The clip is a secondary source revealing a Yad Vashem (The World Holocaust Remembrance Center)
interview with a Holocaust survivor, Eliahu Rosenberg, from the Treblinka Extermination Camp in Poland. He recalls his experience of being one of the few chosen for slave labour in the camp, and how he witnessed the murder of thousands of Jews in the gas chambers as well as the extermination process. He was tasked with the disposal of the bodies in which he was forced to remove the bodies from the chambers and discard them into the pits.

JUSTIFICATION FOR SELECTION
This source is relevant as it reveals a firsthand recount of the extermination process undertaken at these death camps, as a result of the Nazi declaration of ‘The Final Solution’ during the Wannsee Conference in 1942. The Nazi Party, primarily Hitler and his henchman, planned to solve this supposed 'Jewish question' by eradicating the entire European Jewish population as well as degenerates and political rivals. This all simply due to their desire to achieve a “racially pure” Germany rid of the “racially inferior”.

SOURCE USEFULNESS AND RELIABILITY
The clip was very useful and reliable as it disclosed a personal recount by a legitimate Holocaust survivor present at that point in time. The source thus aids in my research to expose the inhumane acts of the Nazi Party and the perpetual trauma it inflicted onto victims. Although the source is a YouTube clip which can be unreliable, it was found on the Yad Vashem certified YouTube channel which documents Holocaust survivor testimonies hence making it a dependable source.

"…an SS guard in Auschwitz. He worked the railroad sidings where transports came. He was a murderer...I remember one of the boys holding a little child, a little baby, and he takes out his pistol and shoots the baby...in the prisoner's hand...He...would whistle…and at the same time would murder these poor people coming off the train. Just right on the tracks...This guy would sing…and murder…A murderer, like most of them were…"

JUSTIFICATION FOR SELECTION
This extract is appropriate to the study of the Holocaust as it reveals a personal recollection of a Holocaust survivor witnessing the Nazi officers' merciless and inhuman treatment towards the prisoners at the camps. Particularly the SS guards who were under the instruction of one of Hitler's most feared henchman, Heinrich Himmler. Himmler, like the other henchmen, enforced the Nazi idealistic mindset that the Jews, degenerates and political rivals were a threat to the "superior race" and was determined on the creation of Germany's master race and establishing racial purity.

SOURCE USEFULNESS AND RELIABILITY
The source was quite useful and reliable as it revealed a firsthand recount by a Holocaust survivor present at the scene. The source assists with my research to exemplify the brutality of the Nazi Party regarding the notion that as long as you were part of a Jewish bloodline, a degenerate or did not practice Nazism, you were victimised and were shown no mercy. The effects of the Holocaust caused damaging psychological impacts as victims were degenerated. The website is trustworthy as it is an official and legitimate website for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

"It seems every day from then on there were decrees…First…everything that was of any value, we had to bring to the marketplace to give to the Germans. It was an organized thing...there was so much chaos...All of a sudden, most of the heads of the families were gone. We didn't know where, when, or if we'll ever see our fathers and brothers again…We were gathered every day for different things…we had to watch when they burned the main synagogue and…They burned all the books of prayer, and we had to stand and watch. Everyone who was over 14 years of age was sent to slave labor…sometimes my sister and both my mother were black and blue from beatings, from…awful treatment that they endured during the day. This lasted about two weeks…but then one day people were told not to go to work...They marched us into one of the poorest sections of town, and we were assigned a place to live."

JUSTIFICATION FOR SELECTION
This source extract is suitable as it reveals a personal recount of a Holocaust survivor regarding the declaration of anti-Jewish decrees in Horochow, Ukraine. These anti-Jewish decrees and measures were compiled and applied by the Nazi Political leaders in which evidently unfold their attempt to limit the rights and liberties of the Jewish population, and to enforce Jewish inferiority in society. The source further reinforces the Nazi Party's aggravation towards the Jews.

SOURCE USEFULNESS AND RELIABILITY
This source was reliable and very useful in aiding my argument to illustrate the harsh strategies administrated by the Nazi regime. It presents a personal experience by a Holocaust survivor regarding their subjection by these dehumanising anti-Jewish legislations; inevitably causing victims to feel subsidiary and developing trauma due to the effects of the Holocaust. The website utilised is dependable as it is an official and legitimate website for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Translation:
"The Jew in his element: With Blacks in a Parisian night club. The Jew bring people the glittering world of perversion as a way of unnerving and enslaving them. He seems to worry as little about it as the rats worry about the plague they carry." DESCRIPTION
The propaganda poster is a primary source revealing Jewish and African-American people interacting at a Parisian night club. The translated caption discloses the Nazi's comparing the "nature" of the Jewish people in the image as that of rats worrying little about the plague they carry. |
JUSTIFICATION FOR SELECTION
The source is relevant to the study of the Holocaust as it is a propaganda poster released during that point in time. This propaganda poster is the work of Hitler's henchman, Joseph Goebbels displaying his utter hatred for the Jews and promoting anti-Semitism. He strategically captures the Jews with African Americans, who at the time were also perceived as "inferior". This further exposing the notion that since the Jews and African Americans in the poster interact with each other they are of the same racial status thus reinforcing Jewish "racial inferiority". As well as comparing them to rats, symbolising Jewish "impurity". This source was also a part of The Eternal Jew exhibition (established in 1937 in Munich), the largest anti-Semitic exhibit produced by the Nazis.

SOURCE USEFULNESS AND RELIABILITY
The source was quite useful as it aided my argument concerning Hitler's Henchmen and their immense hostility towards the Jews to the point that they even established a public exhibition to further encourage and promote anti-Semitism. Resultant in the Holocaust causing a degrading and immutable effect on the lives of the Jewish population. The reliability of the source is trustworthy and dependable as it is a primary source and was publicly displayed in an exhibition during that time.

DESCRIPTION
The photograph is a primary source disclosing the buses which were used for the transportation of patients during the 'Euthanasia Program' (introduced in 1939). The windows of the buses were painted to prevent the public from seeing those inside, and concealed the real purpose of the program. The image specifically depicts the buses for transport to 'Hadamar Euthanasia Centre' . |
JUSTIFICATION FOR SELECTION
This primary source is appropriate to this study of the Holocaust as it provides practical evidence concerning the 'Euthanasia Program'. The 'Euthanasia Program' was Nazi Germany's first initiative of mass murder of the mentally and physically disabled population, and was euphemised as the inducement of a "painless death" to relieve suffering. The source furthermore reinforces the Nazis' desire for a "pure" nation.

SOURCE USEFULNESS AND RELIABILITY
The source was effective as it assisted in my argument in concerns to the Nazis and their extreme want for a pure 'Aryan' master race. The Holocaust comprised of numerous legislations put forth to achieve a "racially pure" Germany, in this case, the concealed extermination of the mental and physical "defects" of society. These individuals were made to feel like a nuisance, minority and induced them to question their worth in society hence inducing detrimental impacts to their well-being. The reliability of the source is trustworthy since it was extracted from an official website for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
